Barrio Intermediate Fly Lines

Barrio GT90 Intermediate Fly Lines

The Barrio GT90 Intermediate is a really useful addition to your loch and stillwater fishing.

A supple 'cold water' line with a smooth, slick, durable coating.

A target sink rate of 1.5 to 2.0 IPS, and a great line for keeping your flies under control sub-surface, be they wets, nymphs, lures, or streamers.

The Intermediate has a long head with a relatively short belly and front taper, creating a ‘front weighted’ line which loads a rod well at short range.

A finely balanced line profile based on our classic GT90 ll tapers, designed for turnover and accuracy at pretty much any distance, and a line which simply excels with long, smooth casting strokes.

I bought this line for Lough Corrib and it performed impeccably in very rough conditions pulling wet flies. One stretch of the new line and it lands straight. The GT90 loads and shoots noticeably better than other standard lines I have.

The guide had a few casts with it and was very impressed. Happy customer, will definitely buy more Barrio lines.

I feel compelled to add a review on the 6wt line I received from you yesterday. First outing today with 5 to the net, the line is a revelation. Straight with no memory and shoots beautifully.

I was left wondering why I have spent double on other branded lines! Highly recommended and I will be back for more!

What a fantastic line! Even with my very amateur casting it just races through the rings and lands dead straight in the water. The first time I used it I couldn’t believe how well it performed - and for such a brilliant price too.

But don’t just take my word for it, everyone who’s tried my rig (vintage 10’ Hardy’s Ultralite with a #7 GT90 intermediate) including my daughter, has marvelled at how nice it feels.

Well done Mike, I’ll be back for more.

Ordered on Thursday, arrived on Friday and loaded onto the reel immediately.

Had a practice in the back field and the line sailed away better than I expected. Looking forward to being on the water on Monday.

Thanks Mike.

Wow, I used this line, which was my 'spare line' and it is much better than the big brands!

Now my other lines are my spares.

I ruined my only intermediate line on the boat prop on Sunday! I ordered a GT90i on Monday. It arrived from Scotland to rural Wales on Tuesday morning. I fished with it Tuesday afternoon.

A lovely line to cast -just zips through the rings. A great line at a great price with outstanding customer service.

After trying many different lines at 7wt (including the SLX), I've been fishing with GT90 and GT90i lines for three seasons now and I doubt I will be buying anything else from now on.

There's something about these lines that just suits my casting style so perfectly - distance and control seem to come easily and effortlessly with the GT90 lines on all my rods.

The GT90 is already a very good floater that goes out for miles (even with my rubbish casting) but the GT90i is just an amazingly good fishing line that I use probably even more than its floating brother for most of my fishing, and it can be cast almost as far. You can aerialise massive amounts of line with either GT and still keep a nice loop - from a bridge with the wind behind me I can nearly get the whole darned lot out with just a basic, non-hauled overhead cast. Critically, the slow sink rate seems to be just right for me - in fact I've replaced my sink tip lines with it now - and the olive green colour is reassuringly dull and unflashy.

Memory is a non-issue with either line, and when I said I'd been fishing with these lines for three seasons, I meant with my same original lines (in salt, fresh, wherever), so extra marks there for longevity and robustness.

Add to this the great personal service you get from Mike and the very reasonable prices, and seriously what's not to like?

Try a GT90/GT90i line - I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I recently purchased one of these based on recommendations.

I'm glad I did. I am a lake fisherman and an Intermediate is an important choice. Until now I was using a clear lake "slime line " from a well known manufacturer. But I seemed to spend most of my fishing time straightening out coils because of its appalling memory.

Not so with the GT90i, it is extremely supple and seems to have no memory whatsoever when stored on a large arbor reel. It also casts well and sinks without having to give it a good "tug". Great line, value and service from Barrio.

I'm looking at my floaters now, with a view to switching!

Fantastic service, delivery overnight to Orkney. This is my first experience with a Barrio line and it will not be the last. It is so much better than any of the overpriced lines I have used in the past. I have been telling everybody in Orkney about it, so hopefully there will be more making it over the Firth.

Probably the best line that I can remember casting in 42 seasons as a fly fisherman. The tapers Mike has come up with combined with the slick coating makes carrying line on the back cast easy. Turnover on the forward cast is excellent with minimal stalling required to straighten the leader.

Sink rate on my #4 seems a bit slower than 1.5"/second but that suits me fine - it just digs in under the surface out of the wind.

Phenomenal line ... Been fishing with it for a few months now and any time there's some wind or the fish are a bit deeper it's my go to line. I haven't made a review earlier because it slipped my mind, then over the holidays I tried a friend's rod with a different intermediate on by a well known brand and hated it. It had memory like an elephant and felt as heavy as one too.

To go back to casting this line just a couple of days later blew me away at how easy it is to get complacent about things like this. All my lines are Barrio and shall continue to be so. They fly out of the rod rings and almost make me look like I know what I'm doing.
